David E. Cherny
David E. Cherny is a founding partner of the Boston Law firm of Atwood & Cherny, P.C., a nationally recognized law firm concentrating in the practice of complex matrimonial litigation at both the trial and appellate court levels. He is a Fellow of the International and American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, serving as past President of the Massachusetts Chapter.
He is also a member of the American Probate & Family Inns of Court. He is a member of the Massachusetts & Texas Bars and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, (D. Mass.), United States Court of Appeals, United States Tax Court and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Cherny and his firm have been involved in numerous family law cases and appellate decisions which have had a significant role in shaping family law in Massachusetts.
He has served as appellate counsel in overt 50 cases to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, Massachusetts Appeals Court, Federal 1st Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court, including cases such as: Pierce v. Pierce; Dematteo v. Dematteo; Zaleski v. Zalesski; Rodman v. Rodman; Van Arsdale v. Van Arsdale; and, Young v. Young.
